このアルバムを一聴してみてまず思った。なんてポップなんだろう！と。二度目に聴く時には自然に口ずさめてしまうようなメロディアスな一曲一曲。このアルバムのクオリティーは非常に高い。それもそのはず。プロデューサーにはあのエアロスミスの曲のプロデュースをするマーティ・フレドリクセンを起用したのだから、納得できる。さすがミック！としか言いようが無い。ストーンズなんてもう終わり、なんて思ってる人はこのアルバムを聴いてみては？まだまだミック・ジャガーはローリングし続ける・・・。

ミック・ジャガーの曲・詩づくりの才能をいまさらながらに再認識した。いずれの曲も「ゴスペル」であり、ミックの個人的な祈りであり、現在の心境や生活状態を率直に歌っていると思う。元々ストーンズの歌詞はバイブルがベースになっている曲が多いわけだが、このCDにはJoy、God、Goddess、Buddha, voices, demons…など直接的な表現が多く、ほとんど「告白」に近い。最後の曲Brand new set of rulesで「やりなおさなきゃね…」と57のオッサンに言われると、もう涙無しでは聴けない。God gave me everythingは最近のストーンズの曲として出色だし、聴きこめば良い曲ばかりだ。なまじっかのストーンズフアンにはわかるまい。キースのTalk is cheapと同等かそれ以上の出来のアルバムである。
