「故宮の至宝」全七巻シリーズの中で、第二巻、第七巻と並ぶ白眉はこの第六巻である。その理由はただ一つ、張擇端の描く「清明上河図」にある。この作品は台北の故宮博物院にはなく、北京の故宮博物院に所蔵されているが、一般には公開されてはおらず、国賓にのみ限って見ることが出来ると言われている。そのため我々はこのＤＶＤを通じて漸く見ることが許されたことになる。２００２年秋現在上海博物館にて始めて一般公開されているが、この絵を見るために観客が殺到し、入館後絵を見ることが出来る位置までたどり着くのに三時間はかかると報道されているほど中国人にも人気があり、中国の至宝と称されている。その理由はこのＤＶＤを見れば理解出来る。南宋の都であった開封の当時の風景を描いているが、運河とそれに懸かる橋、その橋を渡る人々、運河を進む船、大通りの商店と買い物客などが驚くほど詳細に描かれ、しかも人物一人一人が生き生きと描き分けられている。全体の印象は実物を見るしかないのは残念であるが、逆にこれだけの詳細は実物を見たとしても、とても注意が行き届かないであろう。このＤＶＤを見てから実物を見ることが出来れば最高ではあるが、それが簡単には叶わない現実からして、このＤＶＤは「清明上河図」を知る最上の手段と言える。絵画に関心のある方には強く推薦出来る一巻である。
