「故宮の至宝」第三巻は書の特集である。書といえば中国に優るところはなく、中でも書聖と言われる王義之の書は、歴代皇帝の所蔵品として珍重されて来た。この巻では王義之をはじめ、格調高い顔真卿、文人である蘇軾など数多くの書とその書かれた経緯が特集されているが、それぞれの書がそれぞれの個性を主張しており、書に対する造詣が深くなくとも十分に楽しめる構成となっている。末子秀明が安禄山の反乱で殺された後、顔真卿が追悼文として書いた祭姪文稿は、書の乱れ、修正などから彼の心の乱れと哀しみが伝わってくる。書は人なりというのはこういうことかと納得出来る。書に関心のある方にはお薦めの一巻である。
