台北市の故宮博物館を訪れたこののある人は、館内に展示されている中国四千年の文化・芸術の精華に目を見張り、時の経つのを忘れた経験をしたであろう。この博物館の展示品は何度行ってもその素晴らしさを再確認出来るし、前に気のつかなかった細部の美しさを新たに見出すことも出来る。しかし館内の展示物は一万点あまりあり、一回や二回で全部を見ることは不可能であるばかりでなく、博物館背後の倉には全部で７０万点に達する所蔵品が収蔵されているので、まず一生掛けても全部を見ることは出来ない。その中の優品ばかりを集めたのがこのＤＶＤであり、混雑する館内での見学とは別に見学前や見学後にじっくりと心行くまで鑑賞することが可能である。またほとんどの展示品はガラスケース越しに見るため、小さな展示品は細かい点が良く見えないのも現実であるが、そういう小品も細部まで明確に見ることが出来る。歴史的、美術的な解説も親切であり、中国の文化や芸術に関心のある人には強く推薦出来る。
