デジタルリマスタリングの高音質で蘇る甲斐バンドのベストアルバム。

ひたすら情念の世界を歌い続けた初期の甲斐よしひろの世界が見事に結実した至極の作品集です。ガラスの動物園のテーマ、らせん階段、ポップコーンをほおばって、等の曲を聞くと音楽を聴いているのではなく、まるで映画を見ているような気分になります。甲斐よしひろがいかに視覚に訴える歌詞を書き続けたかがこのアルバムを聞くとよくわかります。

正真正銘の甲斐バンドベストアルバムなので甲斐バンドを聞いたことがない人にも是非オススメしたいアルバムです。比類なきその情念の歌詞を味わってみてください。

　このアルバムが最初に発売された当時感じていたのは、
所詮は洋楽の真似でしかないということであった。

　ブルーススプリングスティーンの「明日なき暴走」と
ジャクソンブラウンの「孤独のランナー」を足して二で
割ったような「ヒーロー」。
　もろに「ホテルカルフォルニア」の「氷のくちびる」。

　しかしながら時間を経て聞き直せば、それが甲斐よしひろ
の音楽特に洋楽に対する愛情のように思える。
　当然ながら若い甲斐よしひろには真似しようなどという
意図はなかったと思う。ひたすらに洋楽を吸収して日本語の
ロックを表現しようという情熱がなせる業である。
本当に真似ようと思えばもう少し上手くやるであろう。
そんな意図のない素直さがいいのである。

…やはりベストなんでしょうがこれは立派なアルバムと位置づけてます!ゆえに紙ジャケットにならんのじゃー(-.-;)と思う次第。紙ジャケットのアルバムにボートラで「メモリーグラス」が入ってたりするし…「ダニーボーイに耳をふさいで」は「裏切りの街角」にせまる名曲です。中学生当時、甲斐バンドにハマるきっかけになった思い入れのある一枚。
