   1971年にイギリスで結成された、フレディ・マーキュリー、ブライアン・メイ、ロジャー・テイラー、ジョン・ディーコンの4人による超個性派ロック・バンドである。1973年のデビュー当時は本国よりも日本での人気が高く、1975年に発表された「ボヘミアン・ラプソディ」の成功で世界的な飛躍を遂げた。既存の枠にとらわれることのない音楽性と、“7色の声”と言わしめたフレディの変幻自在のヴォーカルで、冒険的とも言える数々の名作を残すが、1991年、フレディの逝去とともに偉大なバンドの歴史に終止符を打った。（春野丸緒）

「グレイテスト・ヒッツ」同様こちらもとにかくヒット曲・名曲が、満載！その上、この日本盤は最新のデジタルリマスターが施され音質も最高！まさに後期クイーンを知りたい人・どのアルバムを買ってイイのか迷ってる人に最適！但し、このベストは彼等の魅力の一角に過ぎず、やはりアルバム「ザ・ミラクル」「イニュエンド」を聴くべし！因みに前期ならば「クイーンII」「オペラ座の夜」が、お薦め！

後期クイーンの名曲が集められています。

どれも流麗さと洗練られたメロディを持っていて、いつまでも新しく聴こえます。

あの声が、もう生で聴けないのが惜しい。

私は確かにクイーンを馬鹿にしていたのです。確かに青春時代のど真ん中クイーンの曲（キラークイーン等）は絶えず音楽業界をにぎわせていました。しかしその当時の私にはただ派手な二流バンドにしか見えませんでした。プログレッシブ全盛の最中、眼中にありませんでした。そんな私が聞いてみようと思ったのは某番組で彼らの曲が再度見直されていることを知ったことでした。ためしにグレイテスト１を買ってみました。はっきりいってそれまでの考えがくつがえされました。何と美しくそしてハードなことか。フレデイ.マーキュリーの力強い歌声。決してあきさせないフレーズ。解説にも書いてありますが１、２をまずは買ったほうがいいみたいですね。全く曲調は異なりますが同じなのはそこに流れる彼らの音楽に対する真摯な姿です。。素晴らしいバンドです。
