 「夜会」から生まれた楽曲、歌われた楽曲を収録した、『10 WINGS』（1995年）の続編的アルバム。今作では、95年の「夜会'95 2/2」から98年の「夜会'98 海嘯」までの楽曲を収録している。『日 - WINGS』との同時発売。
 「夜会」を見た人なら楽しめることはもちろんだが、たとえ見ていなくても、中島みゆきのアーティストとしての熟成ぶりを示すオリジナル・アルバムとして十分楽しめる。ハイライトは「夜会'96 問う女」で歌われ強い印象を残したドラマティックな<6>、そして「~海嘯」からの優しくポジティブな<9>か。上演時とは大きく異なるアレンジを施された曲もあり、ファンにとってはそのあたりも大きな注目点といえそうだ。（剛吉若寸也）

5.0 out of 5 stars 夜会の名曲の集大成ペア, 2003/4/28
1989年から1999年まで年末に中島みゆきは「夜会」という舞台で
発表された中島みゆきの未収録曲集のうち、「10 Wings」のアルバム以降の
ものを、今回「WINGS」をつけることで統一し、舞台での印象を全く変えて
発表されたものです。
　夜会の舞台を見ていない人でも十分堪能できます。
このアルバムでは、
1.1人で生まれて来たのだから、7.白菊、9.愛から遠く離れて

など、やや各曲に、失恋以外の表現しにくい「切なさ」、
つらい中でも生きていかなければならない人生に対する
抒情を感じました。
　中島みゆきさんの懐の広さが、夜会を観た一部の人だけでなく、
多くの人に理解できるように感じました。

音楽世界で威圧を与える　みゆきさんの代表曲は近年増えてきている　　それは繰り返される戦争や他国の災難は対岸の火と今の人類は心が狭くなってきている　だが何とかしようと思い悩む人もいる　しかし自分の力では戦争を止めることが出来ない非力についても書かれている　その考えを一つにまとめた様な作品が『PAIN』だろう。この曲は全世界の１人１人に聴いて欲しいほど差迫る　みゆきさんの思いが伝わってくる。残念ながら戦争は終わらないと私は思う　元々は小さな争いが自分が自分が大切と自分こそが正しいとしてきた人間の本能が大きな争いごとにしてきたのだと思う　対岸の火ではなくて今の自分の心に平和を願いつつも　怒り、妬みなど消えないのではないか　この曲は人ひとりひとりの永遠のテーマだと感じられる　この一曲にみゆきさんは、いくつもの感情を非常に広い音域と声量で表現し数十人のオーケストラと共に一発録音で収録している。悲しさ、哀れさ、怒り、寂しさ　これほど内容共に音楽としての芸術作品としてのものは　やはり　この人しか作れなかっただろう　私が一番好きな曲だ。是非聴いていただきたい!

どの曲も情緒たっぷりに聴かせてくれる。なかでも「白菊」は必聴！！
みゆきさんの大きさが伝わってくる1枚。
