20年前のアルバムですが、音作りがナチュラルなのでそれ程古臭い感じはしません。この頃のスクエアのメンバーは第二期（安藤・伊東・和泉・田中・長谷部）のブレイク前夜で、カシオペアと共に日本のフュージョンが盛り上がっていました。このアルバムが出た年の一橋大学の学園祭にカシオペアと一緒に出演していた記憶があります。（ちなみにその時の実行委員長は田中康夫だったらしい）
また安藤の作曲センスが光る楽曲として、sabana hotel、カピオラニの通り雨といった名曲が収録されています。伊東のリリコンがとてもツヤのある良い音で録音されててて、生楽器のような瑞々しい演奏が楽しめます。特にhank&clifでのソロは必聴です。

”ADVENTURES”に次ぐ非常に完成度の高いTHE SQUAREのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑと個人的に思います。当時松任谷由実のﾂｱｰでﾊﾞｯｸをしていたこともあり、松任谷由実からの提供曲が6曲目に収録されています。このｱﾙﾊﾞﾑでは前作からﾒﾝﾊﾞｰとなっている”和泉宏隆”のｾﾝｽが光りだしており、"From 03 To 06”は”和泉節”の走りと思います。5曲目伊東さんのLyriconｿﾛ、9曲目安藤さんのｷﾞﾀｰｿﾛ、おなか一杯になるｱﾙﾊﾞﾑです。

トラック２の「君はハリケーン」はあまりにも有名なナンバーですが、アナログ録音であるにもかかわらず？CD発売初期にはCDの持ち味を発揮できるソースとして、高級CDプレイヤーのCMに使われていました。無音からいきなり立ち上がる冒頭などは当時のCDの象徴でした。蛇足ですが「ハワイに行きたい」も本家SONYがCDの普及のために始めたFM番組のテーマに使われていました。そしてSACDが発売され、今度はアナログテープをDSDマスタリングして、SACDの普及のために発売されたという訳です。もちろんSACDではマスターに近いクオリティをもっているはずなので、オーディオマニアの方も楽しめる内容かと思います。「本当はこういう音だったのか」という感動が発売から２０年してやっと一般のリスナーに届いたという感じでしょうか？
