　３曲目の「クイーン・オブ・ザ・ダーク・ホライゾンズ」はイタリアのホラー映画「フェノミナ」のテーマ曲のカバー。そしてこの曲が一番のお勧めだ。原曲はプログレッシブロックバンドのゴブリンが書いたものだが、ラプソディーはさらに音を分厚くして聴かせる。これだけでもこのアルバムを聴く価値がありそうだ。

まず、彼らの生み出す音のユニークさは、彼ら自身が名付けた「ハリウッド」という所にあります。聴いただけでハリウッド映画の一場面が頭に浮かぶような音質は、まさに比類なきもの。　例として、「ブレイブハート」「バットマン」等のサントラ、と言えばイメージが掴みやすいと思いますが、それにメタルの打ち込みを含めて再生してください・・どうでしょう？　そんな感じです。

個人的なお奨めは三曲目の Queen Of The Horizons。十三分強というクラシック曲的長さですが、盛り上がりも一品、昇天間違いなしのカタストロフィに満ちた一曲。ラプソディなんて聴いたことないって方も、ご想像の音、いや期待以上の感動をもたらしてくれるはず。第二の特筆すべき点は、フォークロア・クラシック音楽の引用が印象深いこと。本作の一曲、Elnor`s Magic Valley はその例として最適で、北欧民謡に通じる叙情性を漂わせ、クラシックのファンでも満足のインストゥルメンタル曲です（二曲めのピアノのインストもお奨め。漆黒の雰囲気の中で一層不気味さを際だたせています）。　シンフォニックメタルバンドにありがちな単調さを、見事に打破してくれました。

このＣＤの後半四曲は「ゴシック・サガ」と呼ばれている、四つのパートに分かれた２５分の組曲。保守的ファンにも嬉しいのが、ドヴォルザークの「新世界」からの一曲を見事にメタル・アレンジした最後の曲 The Wizard`s Last Rhymesで、もちろんクラシック演奏が引用されています。

ファンタジーの要素も取り入れたバンドは、ライナーノーツやジャケットにもゴシック調の演出を起用していて、曲中のモノローグもあり（少し小っ恥ずかしい感じもしましたが、幻想的叙事詩の解説役として大目にみてやって下さい・・笑）歌詞自体も物語を追っています。万歳！

　エメラルド・サーガ最終章となる次作『POWER OF THE DRAGONFLAME』に先駆けて発売されたミニアルバムということですが、全曲次作には収録されないということで、また、４２分もの収録時間と、もはや普通のフルアルバムと言っていいでしょう。しかし、いつものRHAPSODYのように１度聴いただけで曲が頭に入ってくるようなそういった即効性のあるメロディーはそれほどなく、台詞やナレーションを随所に配置し、どちらかというとアルバム全体のドラマ性やシンフォニックさにこだわったつくりになっています。
　１０分を超える大曲が２曲もありますが、そのどちらもがかなりの名曲！7THE WIZARDS LAST RHYMESはおそらく誰もが耳にしたことのあるドヴォルザークの｢新世界｣を抜粋しRHAPSODYなりにアレンジした曲です。今までいかにもやりそうでやらなかったという感じですね。これまで注目していなかったのですがベーシストのアレッサンドロ・ロッタのきらりと光るプレイも聴ける名曲です(このバンド実はリズム隊結構やばいですね)。そしてやはり何と言っても3QUEEN OF THE DARK HORIZONS！この展開美、構築美、所々で聴けるツボを押さえたメロディーはおそらくプログレファンにも十分にアピールできる曲です。フィーメールコーラスや、途中のピアノとファビオの歌唱の絡み、ラスト前のインストパート等々、いやーおいしいですね。このハイライト２曲は完全なオリジナル曲とは言えませんが、それでも素晴らしいです！買って損なし！
