レースものはいろいろ持っていますが、このグランツーリスモ２は、ただレースをするというよりもいろいろ楽しめるところが楽しい。自分で買った車でいろいろなレースに出てそれで稼いだ賞金でパーツを買ってＴｕｎｅ-ｕｐしていく。自分の子供を育てているようで、少し筒早くなる車で、何種類かのレースに出れるので、飽きずに何回も遊べます。

まず登場車数の多さには驚かされました。
PSというプラットフォームにおいて数百台もの台数を収録しているほか、コースの種類も豊富であるというのは当時はかなりの衝撃でした。

自分の車を改造する際、ギアの比率やウィングの角度、車高、サスの硬度といった細かい調整も行うことができ、車好きの方でも楽しめるかと思います。

少ない資金で車を買い、レースで資金を稼いで車を改造したり新たな車を購入したりして世界のトップを目指していく。
非常に非日常的ではあるものの、現実的な面も持ち合わせた作品でした。

ゲーム的には、少しバグがあったので全体としては星4つ。

初作に比べると凄まじいボリュームアップで2枚組となり、発売前の情報にワクワクしたダートコースでの挙動は山内さんが「計算を間違えました」と何かのインタビューでおっしゃった通りヘンですね。
ハードのキャパからすれば“表面張力状態”でいっぱいいっぱい、たまにしずくが漏り零れるぐらいまで使っちゃってる感じですね。
前作の成功を踏まえての2作目、作り手にとっても過渡期であったように感じます。
