　のレインとは一味違ったゲーム。
　というか、果たしてこれをゲームと呼んでいいのかも謎。やる作業はただカウンセリングやキャラクタの日記の音声データを聞いていくだけです。内容の難解と稀有な空気を持っているため、おそらくゲーム史上に残るマニアックゲームだと思う。衝撃的過ぎて、これが何の年齢制限もなく売られていたことが不思議である。
　心理学、哲学、情報工学、主にこの三つの学問内容が普通に出てきて、たとえば、ニューロン、プロトコル、ユング程度の言葉は何の注釈もなく平気で出てきます。こういう話が好きな方ははまり込むかもしれないが、好きじゃない方はたぶんやらないほうがいい。
　音声つき、字幕なしの非常に内容が高尚な日記形式サウンドノベルだと思ってくれれば、まぁ、このゲームの半分くらいは説明できます。
　ホラー＋ＳＦといった感じですが、とにかく衝撃的。声優さんが上手すぎて、後半のカウンセリングの様子はめちゃくちゃ怖いです。
　しかし、真価はエンディング以後。現実と非現実の境界をこれだけ積極的に取り除こうとしたゲームは、たぶん、コレ以降も存在しないだろう。つまり、これは現実を侵食していくゲームなのだ。プレイヤーは音声やムービーを見るごとに現実（プレイヤー自信の脳）にlainという存在をダウンロードされていく。アニメ版で明かされるが、lainは現実と仮想の境界を破壊する実行プログラム(.exe)であり、ゲーム版のあるエンディングの、始まりであり終わり、というメッセージは、ゲームが終わってもlainという存在は、プレイヤーの脳の中で生き残り続ける存在であることを示している。だから、画面の中からプレイヤーに呼びかけてくるlainはもはや、自分の脳にインストールされたlainの鏡像であるとも取れる。リアルにプレイヤーの精神を揺さぶろうとした、問題作なのである。危ない、危ない。

アニメでこの作品を観てハマった人は是非やっていただきたいゲームです。と言うか、アニメを観た人限定のようなゲームです。

で、その内容は
1ネットワークを徘徊して、岩倉玲音の情報を集めること（作業になります）。
2その集めた情報は断片的で、アニメとはまったく違う内容（しかも悲しすぎる結末）。

3集めた情報（映像、会話）を一つにつないで鑑賞する（結構衝撃的なシーンも多い）。
3ある条件をクリアすると、最初に登録した名前でlainが話しかけてくれる（ものすごく機械的に）。

このようにゲームソフトとしておもしろい・おもしろくないという次元を超えた、非常に奇異なものになっており、

・このゲームの中で岩倉玲音はどのように描かれているのか？
・アニメと何が違うのかＡ?
・「lain」とは一体どういう存在なのか？
といった具合に、思考・想像して楽しむものになっています。

自分の存在について、真剣に考えたことのある方はアニメとあわせてどうぞ。

このシリアルエクスペリメンツレインは、深夜に放送されていたアニメのゲーム版です。
しかし、テレビ版とは主人公が岩倉玲音であること以外は、全く違う内容になっています。
ゲーム版はとにかく暗い！！そして、心が思わず痛んでしまう結末になっています。
ですが、とにかくレインファンにはたまらない一品ですので是非是非プレイしてみてください。
