   戦国時代の武士、明智左馬介秀満となり、幻魔という未知の敵に立ち向かっていくアクションアドベンチャー。刀で斬る「ばっさり」感を重視して作られた作品で、俳優の金城武が左馬介のモデル・声優として熱演したことでも話題を呼んだ。プレイステーション2で初めて100万本出荷した作品でもある。

   プレイヤーは主に3種類の刀と、それにつけられた必殺技の戦術を使い分けながら3Dで作られたマップを進んでいく。途中、かえでと呼ばれる違うキャラクターを操ったり、パズルのよう仕掛けがあったりと、さまざまなギミックも用意されている。敵の特定攻撃モーション時に攻撃を合わせると一撃で敵が倒せたり、プレイ状況に合わせて隠し要素が出たりと、ゲームとして奥が深い。ストーリー、およびアクションゲームとしての完成度が高い作品で、オープニングムービーは世界最高峰のCG祭典「SIGGRAPH2000」の最優秀賞を受賞したほど美麗な出来だ。（田村 雅）

個人的には非常に惜しい作品
金城武の声の演技が微妙とかそういうことは
俺的にはどうでも良いんです。

途中までは時代劇ファン（？）をも唸らせる様な
カッコ良い戦国時代モノなのに
最後の方、ＳＦで何でもありの世界観になってしまってるのが
勿体無かった。

これだけの技術力があるなら
別に魔法とかＳＦとかなくても
十分カッコいい渋い正統派歴史モノを作れると思うし
そっちの方が面白いと思うんだが
やっぱＳＦ要素が入ってないと売れないんだろうか

金城武を起用した話題の作品。まずそのグラフィックの美しさは素晴らしい。ＣＧムービーもリアルな程に仕上がっているし、見事に戦国時代を再現している。ＢＧＭもオーケストラを起用している部分もあるのでまるで映画を観ているような気分だ。明智佐馬介の顔も金城武に似ており、声もそのままだ(少しセリフが棒読みだったのは気になったが)。特典の方も充実している。特典の中に『鬼武者２』の予告編が入っており、製作者側がどれほどこの作品に意欲を示しているのか分かる。発売した当初はヒットするかどうか分からないのに、初めから『２』の存在を匂わせるとはなかなかである。元々これは三部作なので三部ともストーリーがしっかりしており、ストーリー的には劣る所は全くない。正に日本版『バイオハザード』のようだ。主人公は滑らかに動くのでプレイしやすい。またこのような素晴らしい三部作を作って欲しいと思う。特典はシリーズごとに充実しているのでやりがいは感じる。

迫り来る敵をバッサバッサと切りまくる爽快感は気持ちいいです！
ストーリーはひねりが無く単調で短いですが、
なによりイベントシーンを飛ばせないというところに問題があると思います。
最初は展開がわからないので、ハラハラドキドキしますが、
ゲームオーバーになったりして何度も見せられると、さすがにイライラします。
問題の金城氏の演技ですが、確かに完全に棒読みです。
しかしどこか味が出ていて、自分的には良いと思いました；
操作性は、ほぼバイオ的な感じで動かしやすく、
倒した敵の魂を吸収してパワーアップをするという独自のシステムもあり、面白いです。

難易度はかなり低く、慣れれば大抵の方は簡単にクリアできてしまうのではないでしょうか？
クリア後の特典衣装は笑えます(笑)
バサバサ敵を切り刻み、ストレス解消してみては？
