   プレイステーションで発売され、大ヒットを記録、その後、セガサターンやパソコンにまで移植されたホラー・アクションの名作『バイオハザード』の続編。あの事件の2ヵ月後のラクーンシティを舞台に、前作の主人公のひとりであるクリスの妹、クレアと、ラクーン市警へと配属が決まったばかりの新米警官、レオンの2人が命を賭けた逃避行を繰り広げる。

   前作でもクリスとジルという2人の主人公が設定されていたが、どちらを選んでもストーリー的には、変化がなかった。しかし『バイオハザード2』では、2人の主人公のどちらを先にクリアするかで、もう一方の展開が大きく変化する「ザッピングシステム」を採用しているのが大きな特徴だ。2人の主人公でともにゲームをクリアしたときにはじめてストーリーの全貌がわかり、さらにその順番を変えることで、違う展開が楽しめるのである。

   なお、本作は1998年8月6日に発売（オリジナルは同年1月29日発売）されたリニューアル版。デュアルショックに対応し、キャラクターのアクションや演出にあわせて、手元のコントローラが振動し、恐怖感をさらに盛り上げる仕様になっている。さらに、強力な武器を最初から所持している「ROOKIE」モード、難易度が高く設定されている「U.S.A. Version」モード、シナリオや演出をなくし、敵との戦闘やアイテム収集といった攻略を重点的に楽しむ「EXTREME BATTLE」モードの3つのゲームモードが新たに追加されている点もユーザーにはうれしいところ。（柏木ゆう）

名の通り、バイオ１の続編です。
難易度の高い１に比べ、初めから強力武器でプレイできるモードも備わっていて、シナリオも濃くなり、プレイヤーの恐怖を盛り上げてくれます。
クリア後のおまけもあり、楽しみも広がるといっていいでしょう。
タイムアタックもあるので、かなりやり込めますよ！

私はまずこのバイオハザード２をやりはじめました。
初心者でコントローラーの使い方など難しいなとかんじましたが
2日ぐらいでスラスラいけるようになったし、恐怖といっても
それほどスゴイものではないのでやりやすかったです。

一番の良い点はストーリーが主人公2人ともすごくいいトコです！
（私はレオンの方が好きでした）
そして終わりか・・と思ったとき裏へんがありスゴク感動したコト（ぇ
どちらのストーリーも接点がありつながっているといっていいでしょう！
しかも最後は涙でました!!!!!
怖いだけじゃなくてこんなに感動したのはコレが始めてでした。

まぁコレをやらなければバイオハザードは語れませんね。

今のところバイオ4まで全てのシリーズをプレイしても、やはりバイオ2が一番面白いと思う。
映像はこの時代では仕方がないが、サウンド、ストーリー、キャラクターともに、最高だと言える。
