まず、セリフがほとんどない。世界共通の言葉と名前ぐらいしか出てきません。それでも話がわかってしまうのは俳優陣の豊かさかもしれません。
モノクロ映画にカラーセロファンを重ねて見るような色彩感覚。その色はコロコロ変わり、子供の頃見た夢の中のような映像美！

剥製の鳥が飛び、おもちゃのジオラマがそのまま町へ。バロックな屋内プールは崩壊寸前、配管だらけの穴だらけ。引き出しだらけのピストン屋、金魚と泳ぐ裸の少女。
吊るされた沢山の地球儀ランプに囲まれて、ハンモックで夢見る無垢な青年は、廃虚同然の建物から、いつしか恋を知り、未知の国ＴＵＶＡＬＵへ冒険の旅に出ることを夢見るようになる。

主人公アントン役のドニ・ラヴァン（『ポンヌフの恋人』）が最高だし、エヴァ役のチュルパン・ハマートヴァ（『ルナ・パパ』『グッバイ、レーニン！』）には誰もが恋をしてしまう筈。
映像と美術が素晴らしく、『デリカテッセン』『ロスト・チルドレン』『ホテル・スプレンディッド』等と、ジャック・タチの融合のような映像世界です！

何気なく見た映画でしたが、あまりに感動して次の日も見にいったのを覚えています。役者たちの演技のすばらしさ、映像の巧みさ、何より映画全体の雰囲気が最高でした。主役の女性がとてもかわいくて、最後の終わり方もすごくよかったと思います｡これが映画だなあと思いました。この監督の他の作品も見てみたいと思いました｡

キラキラキラキラと、青く色づけされたフィルムに映る東欧の景観がひたすらきれいで目を見張る映画。町外れにポツンとたつ一軒の公衆プールを舞台に、白黒＆サイレントという思い切った手法で幻想的な寓話を紡いでいく。カラックスの３部作以来の日本登場となるドニ・ラヴァンは外見は老いたがピュアな存在感は少しも変わらず。ロシアの新星、チュルパン・ハマートヴァのかわいさが口元をほころばせ、生きているかのようなプールの悲哀を盛り上げる。
