初めて「Calling You」を聴いたのはアンビリバボーのエンディングにてだが、Takuiの曲だとは知らず(むしろTakuiの存在を知らなかった)「あの曲は誰の曲だったのだろう」とつい最近まで考えていた。が、ふとしたことで最近になってTakuiを聴くようになり、この曲がTakuiの曲だと知り、即購入した。

ポップ調のキャッチーなフレーズにTakuiの声がよく合っていて聴いていて気持ちがいい。普段のTakuiの曲に比べ、特に強調するボーカルコードはないが、曲がそれを必要としないので逆にスムーズに歌いあげるTakuiの統一した歌声が曲を引き立てているので◎。歌詞と曲調が合った、なんとも素敵な一曲だ。歌詞は一度でも長距離恋愛をした人が聞くと頷けるところがあるのではないかと思う。英文が少々意味不明(何を言いたいのか判らない)なのが玉に!傷だが、あまり深く考えないようにしている笑。

あとこの曲の他に２曲このシングルに入っているのだが、いい選曲をしていると思う。元気一杯の曲、結構ハードな曲とTakuiの歌う曲の範囲の広さを強調している。また、あまり音楽として方向性を問われない「Calling You」に比べ、「X-ray man」や「To the max」はTakui独自のビートロール系ロックを代表する曲目だ。多分、初めて「Calling You」でTakuiを知った人は少なくはないだろう。なのでこの曲から入り、Takuiがどんな音楽をやっている人かを知るにはいいスタートになるシングルだと思う。

昔からライブであたためられてきた曲だけにアレンジもよく練ってあって
すごく聴き心地が良いと思います。
カップリング含めTAKUIの守備範囲の広さが伺える一枚になっています。

卒業の頃に私は聞きましたが、
歌詞が当時の自分とシンクロして凄い心揺さぶられました。

TAKUIを初めて聴く人には是非オススメです。
歌の上手さと綺麗さが出ていて聴きやすいですよ。
