北アイルランド洲ベルファスト出身の4人組み、今なお現役パンク続投中な彼らです（82年に一度、解散しておりますが）
さて、こちらはLONDONに拠点を移した80年3月発表の2nd アルバムで1stでの粗しさはよりも、こちらはメロディーが練られてます。
この目を惹くジャケットデザインだけでは想像出来ないと思いますが、ストレートで爽快なパンクがぎっしり詰め込まれています。
でも、日本ではあまり名前が出てこないし、メディアも取り上げないので残念なバンドです。

有名な曲では、１．「Gotta Gettaway」、3.「Fly The Flag」、あと名曲５．「NOBODY’S HEROES」
になりますが、どれも良い曲が揃っており、インスト曲の６．「Bloody Dub」・・なんてのもあります。
個人的には10．「Tin Soldiers」や 8.「At The Edge」も捨てがたいです。
同アルバム収録には11．12．13.の3曲のボーナストラックと14.は VOLの Jake Burns のインタビューが約17分収録されています。

STIFF LITTLE FINGERSのセカンド。
ファーストの勢いそのままに名曲揃い。
レコード時代のA面５曲は、全部いい。
メロも演奏もボーカルも完全なるトップクラス！当時本国ではかなり売れたらしいが、ここ日本ではいまひとつだった。初めて日本盤で出た割には・・・
メジャーどころも悪くはないが、このバンドを聴かないで、どうする。

１ｓｔの熱さと３ｒｄ以降のポップ感が絶妙に融合した奇跡の一枚。クソッタレな日常を生きていく勇気と力を与えてくれる。演奏、楽曲、テンション全てが最高。
