今をときめくトラックメイカー、マッドリブの出世作。
マッドリブが謎の狂ったジャズ・ミュージシャン達（全員マッドリブなんですが）
を黒い煙が立ち込める地下に集め、そこで行われた実験の成果をまとめたアルバムです。
YNQ関連の作品を初めて聴く人はここから入るのが良いと思います。
「？！」→「・・・・」→「！！！」な感じになるでしょう。
最初は、ローズなどの上モノと前につんのめるドラムのチグハグ感に
脳の裏側あたりが軽く痺れるような感覚を覚えると思います。
また、どこまでが生楽器で、どこまでがサンプリングなのかも
分かりにくいですし、とにかく何が起こってるのかも分からなくなるでしょう。
しかし、聴き込む内に、どこが良いのかちゃんと説明は出来ないまでも、
とにかく間違いなく良いということになってしまいます。
興味があるなら、必聴です。ただ、これを聴いた後では
今まで良いと思っていた音も物足りなくなるかもしれませんが・・・。

今注目を浴びまくっているもはや変態というべきヒップホップアーティストmadlibの別名義プロジェクトyesterdays new quintet。
いったいこの人にはいくつの名義があるんだ・・・という感じですが、個人的には今のところこのアルバムがmadlibの中で一番好きです。
子供のころからジャズを聴いてきたヒップホップアーティストmadlibが自分なりにジャズを表現した形でしょう。

madlibはビートに非常に特徴がありますが、それはyesterdays new quintetでも健在です。ビートだけでもかっこいい上に、ギターやキーボードの乗せ方がまたやばいんです。もうセンスありすぎですよ。

ジャズやヒップホップなど、ブラックミュージックが好きなら間違いなく聴くべきです。文句なしの星５つ！！

進化し続けるレーベル、stones throw から、また新たに良質の音楽が発表されました。ＤＪ　マッドリブは、本当に偉大な音楽家だと思います。これからも彼に注目し続けたい、と思わせてくれるＣＤ。このグルーブ感は唯一無二。
