このジャケット見るとついついため息が出ます・・・。なんで解散しちゃったんだ！と。友達やネットなどでスマパンの話をすると、ファンにこれだけ愛されているグループって、意外と少ないんじゃないか？と、よく思います。テクニックがどうこう、この曲のギターは云々・・・なんてことは意に介さず（もちろんこれらあっての曲ですが）、反射的に鳥肌が立ちます。そんな素晴らしいバンドの、終点といった意味のＣＤです。これを聴くと思わず他のスマパンのＣＤも聞きたくなってしまうのは、僕だけでしょうか。

　今は昔。

　音楽の世界で新しい波が寄せては引き、あまたのバンドが生まれてはつぶれていった時代。熱風が渦巻く一方で奇妙で冷徹な運命がミュージシャンたちを翻弄した時代。その幕開けから幕引きまでをとどまることなく駆け抜けたひとつのバンドがあった。

　天才的なソングライティングの腕と、奇妙で愛すべき声を持つビリー。繊細さと大胆さが同居する静かなるギタリストのジェイムス。パンキッシュないでたちに堅実なベースプレイの紅一点ダーシー。唯一無二の天才ドラマーのジミー。

　彼らはいつでも誠実に、この世界が拭い去る事の出来ない醜さと向き合い、歌を通して僕たちに真実を見せ、生きる勇気をくれた。彼らは確かに、この世界を、この世界に生きる僕たちを愛していた。

　そう、彼ら4人、その名を、”The Smashing Pumpkins”という。
　

　ありがとう、さようなら。僕たちはあなたたちの歌を死ぬまで聞きつづける。決して忘れることはない。
