これが最後になるとは、全く思ってもみていなかったので、聞けばきくほど、フレディーとメンバーが１つになって、彼の最後を飾る作品になったな…と思いました。ラストの　SHOW MUST GO ON　は涙なくてはきけませんでした。ありがとう　フレディー。

フレディ・マーキュリーの遺作となった作品。限りある生命を悟ったフレディとメンバーが、Queenとしての集大成を残そうと力の限り（生命をしぼりだすように）製作したもの。フレディの没後に発売された"Made in Heaven"と共に、最期を悟った人の生命の叫びが、大きな感動をもってひしひしと伝わる。特に、このアルバムの最後に収録されている"The Show Must Go On"は、熱唱の中にこめられた思いが心を揺さぶり衝くように響き、何度も涙があふれ出た。他には、Deliahでは、愛猫に手をやいている優しくお茶目な一面がうかがわれる。ラストに向かって盛り上がっていく、アルバムの構成もよくできていると思う。

実質的にQUEENの最終章。この作品の製作直前にFreddieの口から直接、メンバーに病気の事が、語られたと言う。

全編に死に対する悲愴感と生に対する躍動感が、同じ比率で溢れている感じを受ける彼等の全作品中で最もスピリチュアルなアルバム。そして、それは楽曲だけでなく歌詞にも表れているので輸入盤でなく日本盤の対訳を見ながら聴いて頂きたい。

M-1は、発売と同時に全英で1位に輝いたので病床のFreddieも満足だったハズ。M-3、4は、元々Brianが自分のソロ・アルバム用に用意していた曲。M-12は、・・・もう涙無しには聴けない。アルバム発売後9ヶ月と20日後、Freddieは天昇。

QUEENを知らない人に彼等のアルバムを薦めるならば、迷わずに『II』『オペラ座の夜』そしてこの３枚を薦める。

このアルバムを聴く度に命と引き換えにこんなに素晴らしい作品を残してくれたFreddieとそれを心から支えたBrian、Roger、Johnに改めて御礼を言いたい気持ちで一杯になる。
