ベスト盤的手法で集められた過去の平沢進ソロ作品10曲をP-MODELの曲調でリミックスしたという、それだけで興味深い作品。

さらに面白いのは、太陽光線に依存しきった製作方法。録音スタジオの電力を太陽電池によって供給し、ソロ1stアルバム収録「ソーラレイ」で始まるように作られたこのアルバムのジャケは、白い紙に白い文字。紙と文字の反射率が違うために光を当てて斜めから見ると読める。もちろん中も白い紙に白い文字、黒い紙に黒い文字。ここまでやってようやく人に紹介したくなるような、史上最高の太陽光への依存と言えるだろう。
曲調はまるっきりP-MODELだけど、「賢者のプロペラ」「庭師キング」などアジア色の強い曲が多いためにその組み合わせは衝撃的。平沢進がこういう遊びをどんどん思い付いたそばから実行出来るように…僕らはひたすら経済的協力っ！

平沢進ソロ活動約10年間のアルバムからピックアップしたベストアルバム的存在。ただし単なるベスト盤ではなく、ソロ独特のメロディーを、彼のもう一つの顔であるグループ「P-model」のテクノポップと融合して再録音。彼を知らない人にも良く知っているファンにもお勧め。録音からマスタリングまでの作業すべてを太陽光発電による電力で賄うというコンセプトも今後の音楽業界に一石を投じる試み。タイトルとコンセプトが一体となって、過去の曲に新しい光を当てることに成功している。

平沢進が自らのソロ活動を代表する名曲の数々を、主宰するグループP-Modelの作風でセルフカバーしたアルバム。制作のすべては太陽電池でまかなわれており、天候に左右されるそのレコーディング風景は、当時ずいぶんと話題を呼んだ。
（ちなみに、ライブも太陽電池のみで、PA機材を用いずに行われた）

平沢氏の作る楽曲は、ソロの際は「アジア風ニューウェイブ」「デジタルエスニック」という感じで、P-Modelの活動の時には、比較的オーセンティックなテクノサウンドに近いが、近年ではその境界はやや曖昧になってきている気がする。
本作は、勿論P-Model寄りなアレンジわけだが、ある意味P-Model以上にシンセ音がエグく強調されており、ド派手な音作りが為されている。特に、リード音やベース音は、いかにも最近のモデリングシンセ（ソフトシンセかも）らしい、ギラギラした抜けの良い音色である。

個人的に気に入ったのは「ソーラーレイ」「世界タービン」「ヴァーチュアル・ラビット」あたりで、いずれもオリジナルよりずっと分厚いサウンドによって力強さを増しており、ライブ映えしそうなノリの良いトラックに仕上がった。
一方で、「庭師KING」「FORCES」など最初から完成度の高かった楽曲は、あまり再アレンジの必然性を感じられなかった。

さて、ヒラサワ史的に振り返ると、「救済の技法」「賢者のプロペラ」で、ソロにおけるアジアン路線を極め尽くし、恐らくは行き詰まりを感じていたであろう平沢氏が、新たな方向性を模索するために作った実験的なアルバム、という気がする。そして、ここで得た新たな音楽性が、後の「核P-MODEL」としての活動に引き継がれていくように思う。

P-Modelの結成が1979年。既に四半世紀に渡るキャリアだが、平沢氏は全く音楽的に老け込む様子は見えない。まだ当分の間、我々を楽しませてくれそうだ。
