大学病院を舞台に、のし上がろうとする野心家の男、徹底した上下関係と政治的圧力、愛人の存在...。ベタベタな設定＆展開なのに、すっかりハマッてしまい、毎回ハラハラさせられる。田宮二郎のオーバーアクションともいえる演技も何気に楽しみ！　次の巻が待ち遠しい！！

言わずと知れた、日本医療ドラマの最高傑作！未見の若い方はきっと設定や展開が、お定まりの紋切り型のように感じるかも知れません。しかし、それはこの作品がその後の医学関連の作品にいかに大きな影響を与えたかを証明するものでもあります。テーマやシチュエーションにも古さは感じられず、主演の田宮二郎をはじめ、すべてがはまり役と言ってもいい豪華キャストの迫真の演技と相まって、その完成度の高さにはきっと感動を覚えると思います。2003年秋のリメイク版と見比べてみるのも一興かな。
