映画『砂の器』のサントラ。映画本編に実際使われた単なる挿入曲の寄せ集めではなく、レコード用に一個の独立した組曲という形で再編収録されたもので映画を観た人には必聴の一枚。このＣＤを聴くだけで泣けます。あくまで私見ですが、この一曲には昭和２０，３０年代の時代劇音楽、公開当時の現代音楽、はては「千と千尋の神隠し」に至る近作邦画音楽の要素等すべてが詰め込まれており、まさに日本映画音楽の系譜の頂点を極めるものだと思います。なおこのカルチャー・パブリッシャー版ともう一枚のポリドール版は音源がおなじで収録内容も全く同一です。カ・パ版は小林淳氏の映画本編と曲に対する克明な解説付き、ポ版は作曲者・菅野光亮氏のコメント＆映画本編より抜粋の写真付きです。お好きなほうをどうぞ。

映画「砂の器」を観て、この曲を知りました。昔レコードを購入し６回連続聞いてしまいました。１回４５分ぐらいかかるんですよね。でも４時間半を感じさせないぐらい素晴らしいものでした。
