別宮貞雄のヴィオラ協奏曲のCDはほぼ同時期の録音である、実況としての初演の録音もかつてあって、
この時の指揮者は森正ではなかったかと覚えている。

演奏は同時期ながら違っていて、実況のほうがテンポが速く、のりが良かったような気がするが、
録音としてはこちらのほうがやや良い。いずれにしてもこのメロディアスな佳品の貴重な録音である。
別宮貞雄のオーケストラ作品の中でももっとも抒情的な作品ではないか。この作品が尾高賞をとった時、
その“保守的な姿勢”を批判されたことを覚えている。録音は作品を楽しむ分には問題ないが、
やはりそれ専用ではなかったから、限界はある。あれから30年以上経った今、そろそろ最新の録音で
誰かCDをださないだろうか。ただでさえヴィオラ協奏曲の作品は少なく、みんなが親しめる“保守的な”佳品なのだから。

このCDはヴィオラ協奏曲を聴くために買ったのだが、他の石井、広瀬の作品も、私のような保守的な聞き手にとっても楽しめた。
