前作"The Heat Is On"で大成功を収め、「3 + 3」が生み出す新たなサウンドや自らが目指す方向性に、強い自信を得る事になったと思う。そして発売された、今作"Harvest for the World"は、その彼らの自信が垣間見れるかのような、The Isley Brothersの魅力が前面に押し出た素晴らしい作品となった。前作"The Heat Is On"は、とことんシンプルに自分達のサウンドを突き詰めた感じではあったけれど、この"Harvest for the World"はそれに加えて大衆性や、楽曲一つ一つの芸術性を付け足した、とても充実した内容だと思う。僕個人的には、このアルバムの方が前作よりも好きではある。

このアルバムも前作と同じく、演奏は全てIsleys6人のみでプレイされていて、彼らのキャリアの中でも1番充実した時期であったと言えると思う。とても6人だけで作成したとは思えないほど、様々な音色やアイデアが試され、前作に比べて色鮮やかな印象さえ受ける。また、アルバムトータルで見た時の流れがはっきりと意図されて制作されており、スムーズに頭の中にこのアルバムは入ってくる。このアルバムは様々な意味で完成度が非常に高く、彼らを代表する名盤と言っても過言ではない作品だと思う。

やはり圧巻と言っても良いのが、オープニングの"Harvest for the World (Prelude)"から"Harvest for the World"の流れだと思う。ピアノとストリング（シンセサイザーで作られた音色だと思うけれど）でスケールの大きい、ドラマティックなイントロと、そのオケに乗って激しくシャウトするRonald Isley。その圧巻とも言える"Prelude"の後に展開される、アコースティックギターを主体とする"Harvest for the World"は、これまでのThe Isley Brothersのポップな要素が突き詰められた名曲だと思う。また、後年にAaliyahによってカバーされ（プロデューサーはR.Kerry）、大ヒットを生んだ"At Your Best (You Are Love) "も収録されている。

　オープナー、ハーヴェスト・フォーザ・ワールドのプレリュードが流れてきた瞬間、あまりの素晴らしさに１Ｒ　ＴＫＯ状態だ。
　本作は、3+3を誇示してからの第四作目。相変わらず高い水準を維持している。７０年代初期〜中期までのアイズレーズは、今改めてて聞き返してみると、スティービーやマーヴィンと並ぶほど、大傑作の連峰を形成しつづけていたと思う。
　(At Your Best) You Are Love、Let Me Down Easyなど、本作は、特にメロウ系のナンバーに、出来の良いのが揃った感じ。アーニーのあまり攻撃的でないソフトなワウをかけたギター、クリス・ジャスパーのアープ・シンセサイザー、ロナルドのヴォイス...が心地よい。

　ボーナスはこれまた凄い。１９８０年にベアズビル・スタジオで収録された「サマー・ブリーズ」のライヴ・テイクだ！　８分を超える濃密な音世界。
　もし、未聴の方がいらっしゃいましたら、ぜひ購入してください。絶対裏切られないから。

数多いアイズレー・ブラザーズのアルバムのなかでも、「３＋３」と並んで個人的に思い出深い一枚です。とりわけ６曲目の「 Let Me Down Easy 」はロナルドの絶唱は言うに及ばず、イントロから繰り返されるシンセのメロディに、いつも波間をたゆたうような気分に誘われます。
