ブレイクとかヒットなどという言葉とは無縁のまま地に足のついた音楽活動を続けてきた三宅伸治だが、今作では本当に土をしっかりと踏みしめたかのようなサウンドをたっぷりと聴かせてくれる。バンドの名前からしてThe SWAMP TRAMPだからねー。本気だよ、コレは。もちろん、過去にエリアコード615やトニー・ジョー・ホワイトらを迎えたスワンプ・アルバムを作ったりしてはいるけれど、今回は本場もんのゲストなし、完全自前の作品だからこそ、逆に彼の本気がよりよく伝わってくる。といっても、とってつけたようなスワンプ風味のアルバムになっていないのは、彼の音楽には常にスワンプからの影響が通底していたことに加え、外部からの影響を消化する感性が鋭いからだろう。そういう意味でも、ジョージ・ハリスンの音楽に漂うスワンプ臭を意識したような「友達がいる」が特に面白かった。ま、何はともあれ、気持ちのいいアルバム。秋の夜長にボーッとリラックスして聴きたい。 (星野吉男) --- 2001年09月号
