国内盤はすでに廃盤。輸入盤も廃盤になっていたらしい。それが今年になって再発売されたため運良く手に入りました。
ベトナム出身の彼女。ジャズにさまざまな音楽の要素を織り交ぜた音楽に、ベトナム語と思われる独特の響きのヴォーカルが重なります。
民族色も濃く出ていて不思議な雰囲気で、ギターなどの楽器の音の粒も見事に融合しています。

もろジャズの匂いのする曲から、エレクトロな感じまで、ゆらゆらとゆれるようにゆたっりとした表情豊かなアルバムになっています。

フランス在住のベトナム系女性歌手Huong Thanh（フン・タン）による2001年の作品。プロデューサーとギタリストを務める同じベトナム系フランス人プレイヤーNguyen Le（グエン・レ）をはじめとして、Paolo Fresu（トランペット）などが参加しています。全体としては民族楽器を多用したエスニカルなサウンドを基本に、ジャズともフュージョンともつかない彩りが加わり、実に独特な雰囲気を醸し出しています。無理にジャンル分けする必要はないと思いますが、分かりやすく言えばワールド・ミュージックの範疇に入るのでしょうか。

Huong Thanhのボーカルは実に美しくしかもチャーミングな魅力にあふれていますが、特に4曲目の「What the Bird Says」でのHuong ThanhのボーカルとNguyen Leの繊細なギタープレイとの絡みは、この世のものとは思えない美しさをたたえています。単にエスニック趣味とは一線も二線も画したくなるような不思議な魅力をもったこの作品。毎日聴いても全く飽きてきません。さすがＡＣＴレーベル！1999年の「Moon And Wind」もお勧めです。
