随分以前の話ですが、某大型CDショップで知人に"こんなの聴いた事ある?"と示された一枚のCD。ジャケットを一瞥して"こりゃ、聴いちゃいかん部類の音楽だ"と思ったのを覚えています。そう、男性が銃で撃たれて道端に倒れている、あのシュール(というか、人によっては絶対に卒倒しそうな)ジャケです(^^;
良くも悪くも、J.ゾーンという人の名前は瞬時にて脳みその皺に刻まれてしまったのですが、出会いが出会いだけに(^^;、音はずっと聴かずに来ました。本作は私の聴いたJ.ゾーン(含むネイキッド・シティ)作品、わずか２作品のうちの１つなのですが、世にこれ程クレイジーな音楽があるものかと半ばあきれ、半ば感心した作品です。
ハード・コア・パンク系やデス・メタル系かと思わせる音が連続する中にも、時折、遊び心というか、茶目っ気が顔を覗かせる辺りに、単純に切って捨てられない何かがあるのです。
正直、頻繁に聴いている作品ではないのですが、何かこうムシャクシャしている時に皿でも投げつけて壊すといった、ある種の転化的精神衛生術のようなものでしょうか。実は、既聴のもう１作品がほぼ純粋な？ジャズを演っていたものですから、そのギャップの大きさにも中てられたのかも知れません(^^;
＃それにしても、B.フリーゼル(g)とJ.バロン(ds)の
＃圧倒的な威力にはやられました。
