今現在、シングル曲の中で一番好きな曲は？と聞かれたら、迷わずこの曲を挙げます！

歌詞・演奏・ボーカル・アレンジ・ミックス、全てが素晴らしい作品です。

特にアコーディオンとベースが交互に前に出たり、引っ込んだりするミックスが最高です！

Aメロのメロディが何度も繰り返されますが、クドイと感じた事はありません。
自身を持って前面に出したのだと思います。

歌詞は、Mr.Childrenの過去・現在・未来について書かれていると思いますが、
聴き手の状況によって捉え方が変化しますし、すごく前向きに気持ちにもなれます。

最高の作品だと思います！！

独特のストリングスメロディーで始まる名曲「優しい歌」。
この曲から、よい意味でミスチルの歌謡曲っぽいポップさが始まったように思います。
サビも心くすぐる美メロですし、カラオケでも歌いやすい。
正に万人向けミスチルのスタートですね。
カップリングは、「花」の別バージョン。
この「花」別バージョン、今ではアルバムB-SIDEに収録されているので、
このシングルの価値も薄れましたが、ファンなら買っておくべきですね。

ポップなメロディーであって歌詞はやや後ろ向きである曲。噛めば噛むほど味が出る。
