アンプ使わない生ハープ(ハーモニカ)系の最高峰。録音当時、既に約50歳ネンキ入ってて渋みある歌もハープも自己スタイル確立されてる。加えて演奏も当時のシカゴ最高メンバー（Robert Jr. Lockwood, Otis Spann, Fred Below, Willie Dixon）で息もピッタリ！ 特に"Cross My Heart"鳥肌モノ。ジャケもいい感じ

ブルーズ聞き始めてもう30年。いまだに＃１フェイバリット･ブルーズマン。ＢＢでさえ、最初にプロの仕事もらって、バスケットの選手みたいに背が高くて、ボクサーみたいにがっちりしてて、どすの利いたひび割れた声をした怖い人だったと語らせた人。ロバートジョンスンが毒殺されたとき一緒に演奏してて、「そんな何が入ってるかわかんねぞ」って警告した人。ウルフの妹と結婚してウルフにハープを教えた人(生徒は師匠に遠く及ばなかった）。ヨーロッパ行って各地でブルーズの種を撒き散らしてきた人。特大のたらこ唇に団扇のような手でハープを持ち、たまにはハープを全部口の中に入れて、縦にしてハープを吹いたりする人。とにかくこの親父は普通じゃありません。彼こそ真のブルーズマンです。20世紀のブルーズの歴史、敢えて言えばポピュラー音楽の基礎をあるいてきた偉大なブルーズマンなんだ。そのチェスでの録音の有名な曲を集めたＣＤが悪いはずはなく、全曲シカゴ南部派のタフでラフな音に浸れます。そういえば、チェスの息子が言ってたけど、「サニー･ボーイのレコーディングは全て即興。一切楽譜無しで、とにかく変わっていた」と語っていたのをみたことがあります。とにかく言葉と演奏と雰囲気が全て一体化したド迫力のあるサウンドがウリです。

砂埃のようなハープのインスト、重い荷物を背負っているかのような歌声、繰り返されるブレイク、ギターのシャッフルビート、
ハープソロ直前の一瞬の緊張感、４小説トニックで抑えを効かし、弾け飛ぶブルーノート、そして三連。
｢効果音」は一音もなし。本物の｢音」がここにはあります。
