寡作で有名なまりやさんですが、長い間出なかったアルバムに、こんなにもタイアップ曲がいっぱい詰め込まれていると、彼女のJ-POPシーンにおける偉大さがわかるような気がします。いつのまにかこの人の声を聴いているんだな、と思います。
『真夜中のナイチンゲール』は、歌唱力に圧倒されます。そうかと思えば、『心はいつでも17才』は、お茶目なミドル・エイジの彼女の姿が見えるようでかわいい。『今夜はHerty Party』では、ゲスト参加したキムタクの「愛してるよ」という囁きまで聴けてしまいます。
蛇足ながら本アルバムで気づいたのですが、この方は鼻濁音をきちんと発音できる、昨今珍しい正統派歌手です。鼻濁音、つまり「学校」の「が」と「音楽」の「が」の違いです。

この気品あり温かく明るい美声が相対的に今日も保たれていることにまず驚きだし、曲への安心感も変わらずあることの凄さを思う。序曲の「毎日がスペシャル」のような新鮮さを内に秘めていられるからだろうか。だからこちらも、そのフレッシュな声を耳にする度に自然と原点へ戻れる。「心はいつでも17才」。あの頃の夢見る気持ちと今日までの経験を活かせば、これからこそ良い時間を送れると思えるような詞だ。一方で昔の「駅」のように悲哀の曲想を持つ「ノスタルジア」は想い出を黄昏の中で探しに行くような大人の曲。過ぎ去った恋愛をいとおしく振り返る瞬間というのは齢を重ねなければ出会えないものだ。

前半は穏やかな昼下がりや緩やかなドライヴに合いそうな曲が多く、「Tell me,tell me」は軽くランデブしてゆくギターのアルペジオがとても心地よい。「今夜はHearty Party」からはナイトモードの曲が増え、この音源ではリズムの加速感が増している。詞の“dance now” というようにワクワクする気持ちを強く引出す。キムタクの面白い飛び道具も備わっていた。「カムフラージュ」では山下達郎のppでのコーラスからの導入がやはりいい。“目と目があって”という映像的にドラマチックなサビも印象的。続き「Winter Lovers」へ流れてゆくロマンチックな展開そしてアットホームな「すてきなホリデイ」は当に年末の冬使用だ。

パイプオルガンで始まる「天使のため息」は彼女らしい、美しくて切ない代表曲に。スローモーションで過ぎ去ってゆく詞の展開も聴き所リズミカルなバラードがそうさせるのかも。2分24秒の「A cup of tea」はその名の通りティータイムをうたう。大人の時間の過ごし方を歌う前半の曲とも通じ合うものがあった。

　竹内まりやさんの曲を聴いて思うのは、シングル曲・アルバム曲に関わらず、絶対にハズレがないという事です。アルバムのみの曲であっても、その殆どが何らかのタイアップをされているからかもしれません。だから、オリジナルアルバムなのにベストアルバムを聴いているかのような満足感を味わえます。これからもマイペースで、リスナーに良い曲を聴かせてほしいです。
