かつての前衛ジャズテナーサックスの大家アーチー・シェップ。最近は録音に恵まれないと思っていたが、ここ２，３年、日本の誇るジャズ・レーベル「ヴィーナス」から立て続けに３枚リリースされた。枯れたといっても、かつての「前衛の王者」。シャンソンを演っても変なイージーリスニング・ジャズにはならない。アーチー・シェップ風解釈の「パリの空の下」を聴いて欲しい。前衛の王者の復活だ。しかし、聴きににくくはない。ジャズの王道を行きながら前衛ジャズファンでなくとも楽しめる仕上がりは、プロデューサーの原哲夫氏のセンスと力だ。買ってそんはないどころではない。前衛ジャズ嫌いにこそ薦める。加えて録音もものすごくいい。（松本敏之）

オールフレンチもののCDはめずらしい。
シェップはいつもの自然な息遣いで淡々とこなしていく。
ショップ節でどこまでも綴られて行く音が気持ちいい。
聞きなれた「枯葉」も新鮮に響く。呼吸するかのように自在にこなしていくシェップのフレンチが好きでたまらないという雰囲気が伝わってくる。

いい演奏だ。CDが終わったとき、もう一回聞きたいという気持ちが沸いてくる。
