   マスメディアに務める青年・伊沢（浅野忠信）が、白痴と称されながら隣に住む女性サヨ（甲田麻也子）といつしか心を通わせていく。坂口安吾の同名小説を、ヴィジュアリストの手塚眞が特撮とCGを駆使して映画化。伊沢の住む家屋やその近辺は戦時中の雰囲気で、一方マスメディア（TV局）のセットはサイケな未来タッチと、あたかも舞台をパラレルワールドとして捉え、やがて訪れる世界の終末を、製作当時の世紀末日本の思想とも重ね合わせていくという、実験的手法が至るところにみられる意欲作でもある。クライマックスの空襲に始まる崩壊スペクタクル・シーンは圧巻。また、その後の展開はどことなく『新世紀エヴァンゲリオン』風？ ヴェネツィア映画祭ではデジタルアワードを受賞している。（的田也寸志）

ビジュアリストを名乗るだけあって、セットや大道具・小道具に見せる手塚眞監督のこだわりはさすがにすごい! この人のホラービデオは怖かったものなぁ。これらも近日DVDになるようなので、結構結構。

さて、戦中になんでTVとカラー放送があるのかというシュールな設定は措いといて、アイドル銀河（橋本麗香）とプロデューサー（原田芳雄）はキレてました。甲田益也子さんのサヨは嵌りすぎ。俳優陣の演技は言うことなしです（TV局の重役役で出ているのは筒井康隆?）。ただ一点、天地真理が気持ち悪かったので（個人的な好みです）、惜しいなぁ、1ランクダウン。

とてもいい映画だと思いました。
雰囲気や色使いが綺麗だし、話がなんとも表現しがたい･･･
「作品」として本当に感動しました。
ところどころのCGが現在の技術があったら･･･と見て思ってしまう2005年現在ですが（汗）

難しい言葉を聞き流してしまったので、是非原作も読んで深く知りたくなりました。

　いや、意外にアンゴしていたよ。うん。手塚真ってさぁ、けっこうケレン味のある映像作家でしょ？　だから、まあ、この作品に関しても観る前は結構心配していたわけ。「大丈夫なんだろうか？」と。でもまあ、実際に観てみると、それは杞憂だとわかったけどね。アンゴから土着的な部分を抜いて、まではいわないにしろ、かなり薄味にしてかわりにオリジナルでアバンギャルドな世界を背景として設定、話の枠組みやシュチュエーションはきちんと原典を踏んでいる、というアレンジは、細部までを含めてギチギチに原作に忠実であるよりは、かえってアンゴのエッセンスを濃く感じさせて、かなりいい仕上がりになった思う。
　それにしても、原田芳雄や藤村俊二がアンゴ的な世界にこんなにハマルとは思わなかっち
