マルティーノおじ様によるスタンダードとオリジナルのミックス作品。
おじ様は相変わらずシャープな演奏をしています。
レガードな感じにはあまり弾かないおじ様もそこはプロ。スタンダードでは色気を出しています。
オリジナル曲はフリーの要素が入ったトーンのアートと言えるような演奏で、いい感じです。

硬く鋭く正確なギターワークは無機質な感じを髣髴させますが、逆に私はその無機質さに熱いものを感じます。
名盤と呼ばれているだけはあり、わたしもついつい聞いてしまう不思議なアルバムです。

「スリー・ベース・ヒット」「ブルー・ボッサ」の躍動感、カッコいいです。ギル・ゴールドスタインのアコースティック・ピアノも音が粒た立っていていいですね。リチャード・デイヴィスのベース、ビリー・ハートのドラムも堅固。その後フュージョン作品も出し、80年代は脳の病気でお休みするマルティーノにとっては、1976年の本作は一つのピークだったように思えます。

ジャズギター二大PMのおひとかた

向こうはカウボーイでこっちはサムライって感じがする

記憶喪失になって自分のフレーズをコピーしたりしてたらしい

一曲目からもう、居合いみたいな緊張感で集中できる

尺八とか三味線に近い　たましいの領域

最初はすごいと思うけど二曲目からは、同じフレーズが多いことに気付く

簡単そうなフレーズをコピーしてあわせると、おれでも出来るんじゃないか？と思い始める
意外とちょろいな、みたいに勘違いしちゃう

でもそれで聴くのに退屈になったりはしない
むしろ何か深みがわいていることに気づく
普遍性って、大抵そういうものなんじゃないか、とか思い始める

ジャンゴみたいに一門を形成しそうな予感さえする人

完成されたジャズ。文句のない名盤です。
