シングル"Rule the World"で世界的なヒットを飛ばしたTears for Fears（以下TFF）が満を持して出したアルバムがこの"Seeds of Love"です。タイトルチューンの"Sowing The Seeds of Love"はCMでも良く流れていましたね。

音楽を自分で制作している人やドラマーには特にお勧めです。十分に計算され構成されている音、その広がり感や積み重ね方など、今聞いてもたくさん参考にするべき個所があります。プロのSRエンジニアが今でもサウンドチェックCDとして実際に使用していることから、その完成度の高さや音の良さを確認できます。また、歌もののバックをやっているドラマーは必聴でしょう！フィル・コリンズやマヌ・カッチェ、サイモン・フィリップスといった最高のドラマー達が見事なプレイを披露しています。特に2曲目の"BADMANS SONG"はイントロから圧倒されます。シンバルやハイハットの使い方にしびれます。技術ではなく、センスを磨くための一枚ですね。

かなり偏ったレビューになってしまったようですね。しかし、私はこのCDを発売当時から10年以上聞いることになりますが、いまだに飽きることが有りません。この先も出かける時に持ち出すCDの一枚でありつづけることは間違いないでしょう。シングルでしかTFFを聞いたことの無い方には是非一度聞いていただきたいアルバムです。

　熱心なTFFのファンなら、THE HURDINGやSONG FROM THE BIG CHAIRを推すと思うし、その気持ちも分からない訳ではありません。
　自分自身、リアルタイムで聴いた訳じゃなくて、思春期の鬱屈した状態でTFFに出会っていたら、やっぱりTHE HURDINGやSONG FROM THE BIG CHAIRが一番って思うでしょう。
　しかし、今になって、TFFを聴き始めた自分にとっては、このアルバムが一番です。誤解しないで欲しいのは、THE HURDINGやSONG FROM THE BIG CHAIRも、素晴らしいアルバムです。ですが、それ以上に、素晴らしいです。
　非常に、音の作り込みをしてあるのですが、その作り込みが人工的、機械的ではなく、自然な状態で耳に届きます。それは、演奏してるメンバーの技術もそうですし、編集の上手さもあります。
　このアルバムに込められている、ローランド・オーザバルとカート・スミスの情熱が、この宝石の様なアルバムを生み出したのでしょう。

　この後、TFFは、活動を休止してしまいますが、このアルバムが一つの到達点でもあり、最高傑作でもあると思います。
