   破れまくったジーンズとライダーズ・ジャケット、マッシュルーム・カットを半年くらい伸ばしっぱなしにしたヘアスタイルのむさい男4人が叩きつけるのは、ほとんどすべての曲が3分以内で終わってしまう高速のスリーコード・ロックンロール。その後、20年以上に渡って「偉大なるワンパターン」を繰り返しながら、世界中のパンク・バンドからのリスペクトを受けづけることになるラモーンズのデビュー・アルバムだ。
   ニューヨークのアンダーグランドシーンから発生した彼らのプリミティヴなロック・サウンドは、テクニックばかりが重視されがちだった70年代のアメリカの音楽シーンに新鮮なショックを与えるとともにロックンロールが持つ本質的な魅力を取り戻すことになる。初めて聴いた人にはすべて同じに思える超シンプルなエイト・ビート・サウンド、異様な興奮を呼び起こすポップ・メロ、まるでアメリカン・コミックから飛び出てきたようなメンバーのキャラ。音楽性に対する評価より、そのあまりにもキャッチーな存在自体が愛されたラモーンズの歴史は、ここから始まった。（森 朋之）

言わずと知れたロックの大名盤。シンプルな演奏だけど、他のバンドには真似ようと思っても真似られないサウンド。ニューヨークパンクという狭いジャンルで語られるべきバンドではないです。これを聴いて良さが分からん音楽教師は辞めたほうが世のため人のため。ラモーンズは、動いてる姿も死ぬほどカッコいいので、是非ライブビデオやロックンロールハイスクール等を見ることをお勧めします。

パンクが好きな人たちへ。ラモーンズが開発した疾走するビートと50年代のポップスが深く影響している旋律といけいけどんどんの敢闘精神の組合わせ、この歌形式こそがその後のパンクの基礎となったのです。

ロックが好きで、パンクが嫌いな人たちへ。この粗雑でうるさくてあまりにもスピーディーな音楽はなんだ！と憤るかもしれませんが、これが本当のロックです。
