『スクリーム』『インビジブル』『エルム街の悪夢』『オーメン』といったホラーの映画音楽から、小粋で洒落たメロディアスな曲ばかりを選んだという、ちょっと変わったサントラ・コンピ。ホラーの音楽では、美しすぎて逆に恐い音楽というのは結構アリで、昔でいえば『サスペリア』のテーマとか『エクソシスト』に使われた『チュブラー・ベルズ』なんてその代表格。とはいえ、メロディはきれいでもアレンジがどこか不気味だったりするので、夜のドライヴとかで聴くとやっぱり恐いと思うけど……。 (竹之内円) --- 2001年08月号
