意外にSF好きだった旧ソ連の秘宝ともいうべき『不思議惑星キン・ザ・ザ』が12年ぶりにロードショー公開される! しかもサントラまで届いてしまった。ただし音楽を担当したギア・カンチェリの作品集という形で、日本未公開3作とのカップリングで『キン・ザ・ザ』からは4曲を収録。未公開作の音楽といえども、カンチェリ特有のリリカルでどこか変テコリンな音楽は共通しているので、全然心配はいらない(笑)。気のせいか、カンチェリの音楽は日本映画風で耳馴染みがいいので、ぜひ聴いてみて。クー! (竹之内円) --- 2001年08月号

「ピロスマニ」「ロビンソナーダ」「落葉」・・・・・。
最近話題のグルジア映画だが極めつけは「不思議惑星キン・ザ・ザ」だろう。
ナンセンスというよりもキュートなユーモアが全編に流れるＳＦコメディだが、この映画の音楽を手がけているのが地元の国民的作曲家ギア・カンチェリというのだから驚きだ。

なぜかというと彼は本業の（？）クラシックでは暗い、重い曲ばかり書いているからである。
映画冒頭のテーマ曲が持つ、ちょっとくたびれた感じのコミカルなムードは、とても同じ人が書いたものとは思えない。
このＣＤはそんな「キン・ザ・ザ」の音楽を含むカンチェリの映画音楽集である。

全編が不思議な魅力で包まれており飽きさせないが、中でも無形世界遺産に登録されているグルジアの!男声ポリフォニーを使ったものは、言葉にできないぐらいの根源的な感動を起こさせる素晴らしいものである。
あの色彩感覚といい、このポリフォニーといい、グルジアには芸術という宝が脈々と受け継がれているようである。
あとカスピ海ヨーグルト!

何とも不思議な国だ。
この不思議な音楽がこの国の豊かな特色を端的に物語っているのかもしれない。
