1971年9月ロンドンのアドヴィジョン・スタジオにて録音。リック・ウエイクマンの加入でYesの音楽が完成した記念すべきアルバム(第4作)である。
この時のメンバーの年齢はジョン・アンダーソン27才、ビル・ブラッフォード22才、スティーヴ・ハウ24才(ちなみに千昌夫と誕生日が全く同じ（●＾o＾●）)、クリス・スクワイア25才、リック・ウエイクマン22才ということでパワーとテクニックがまさに円熟期に入った時期でもあったと言えるだろう。
Yesの音楽を語る上で前作でのスティーヴ・ハウの加入以上に重要だったのは本作から加入したリック・ウエイクマンの加入だったと思う。クラッシックの素養を持つ彼の変幻自在のキーボードは彼等の音楽の土台を強固に固めたものだった。
その中でメンバー5人はそれぞれのソロを1曲ずつ入れるという試みを本作で行っていてそれがとても効いている。リック・ウエイクマンのブラームスやスティーヴ・ハウの名曲『Mood For A Day』の素晴らしさは格別で彼等をコピーしなかったギター小僧・キーボード小僧はいなかったと断言できるほどの吸引力である。
それにも増して合作の1・6・9の素晴らしさは最高である。そしてロジャー・ディーンのジャケット!!文句ありません。

このアルバムの素晴らしさについては、もう語り尽くされているのでそんなに書きません。特筆すべきは、何と言ってもこのリマスターされたこのアルバムの音質にあるでしょう！以前に発売されていたCDとは桁違い（本当に桁違い）の音質向上です。スティーブ・ハウのギターの擦れる音が生々しく聞こえてきます。あまりの凄さに他のアルバムも全て買い直しました。以前のバージョンのCDを持っている方もこれは買いです。

かつてはやたら凝った演奏が気になったyesだ
が昔聞いたＬＰとは恐ろしく印象が違う　すごい音　
ベース　ドラムスのクリアーな音は圧巻
ＬＰ完全復刻の紙ジャケといい数ある７０年代ＲＯＣＫ
のリマスター盤の中でも最高のできだと思う　
これをお手本に７０年代ＲＯＣＫ名盤は
ＨＤＣＤ仕様ＬＰ完全復刻の紙ジャケでどんどん出してほしい
