同タイトルのゲームとリンクした内容のアニメです。ゲーム自体をプレイしていなくても楽しめるし、ロボット物としてはよく出来たアニメだと思います。このアニメの前作にあたる、「Z.O.E 2167 I DOLO」を見ていると、より一層楽しむことが出来ます。

PS2で発売されているゲーム Z.O.Eのメディアミックス作品で、OVA「Z.O.E 2167 イドロ」の続編です。ゲームのZ.O.Eをプレイして更にイドロを観て世界観を把握しているとより一層楽しめます。しかしイドロを観ていなくても、ゲームをプレイしてなくても楽しめる内容です。特にこの作品のヒーロー(49歳のおっちゃん)とヒロイン(オービタルフレームというロボット)は存在感が抜群です。
此だけの情報だと、「キワモノか」と思われる方も居るかと思うのですが、不思議と先が気になってしょうがない話になっています。
話の世界観は王道(地球に住む人と宇宙に住む人の対立。)と言えば王道なんですが設定が作り込んであるので結構リアリティーがあります。

ロボット物のアニメーションが好きでいろいろ見てきていますが、
最も好きな作品としてもいいほどに推せる作品です。
（「トップをねらえ！」や「Ｚガンダム」クラスかな・・・）
原作である「ＺＯＥ」や「ＡＮＵＢＩＳ」とは違い、
洗練された未来的グラフィックは薄いですが、
作りこまれた良質なＳＦであり、
そしてなにより「ドラマ」が最大の魅力です。
（最初は、
　呑んだくれトラック野郎のダメ親父のダラダラ逃避行コメディで、
　あまりにもゆるい展開ですが、
　先が気になって見ているうちに、
　気がつくと化けています・・・）
前日談にあたる短編「イドロ」（約１時間）がまた傑作ですので、
こちらを試金石として鑑賞されることをぜひ強くお奨めします！
