80年代中期に細野晴臣が立ち上げたノンスタンダード・レーベルに残した音源を集めた『ピチカートマニア!』というアルバムをリマスタリングし、ジャケットも新たにした復刻盤。当時の彼らは女性ヴォーカルの佐々木麻美子に小西、高浪、鴨宮という三人の作曲家チームという編成。儚気なウィスパー・ヴォイス、男女のスキャット、スタイリッシュなアレンジが施された打ち込みサウンド。ヨーロッパ映画が好きな金持ち学生風な小洒落たムードを満載した、その都会的な作風は新種のポップスとして通の間で話題になったものだ。 (野口顕) --- 2001年09月号

ピチカートファイブ デビュー初期の楽曲を集めたリマスターアルバム。
80年代のテクノポップから90年代の渋谷系までの点と線をつなぐ重要なアルバムのひとつ。
思いっきりテクノポップしてます。

後に監督･脚本 小西康陽と言われたように
すでに初期から小西楽曲には映画の香りが見えてきます。

はかなく、消えてしまいそうな佐々木嬢のボーカルも今となっては幻か。
｢セプテンバーソング｣は渋谷系に埋もれてしまった名曲。
