坂本の最高作の一つ「音楽図鑑」の頃に作られた非常に興味深いドキュメンタリー｡延々と続いたレコーディングの様子の一端や、当時荻窪にあった坂本家での矢野顕子との連弾による「東風」などレアな見所が多い。８０年代の東京をヨーロッパの視点から見た数少ない貴重な作品でもあり、１６ミリ特有のざらついた映像が最高です。傑作。

タイトルに書いたとおり、ＹＭＯ散開直後の坂本龍一を「音楽図鑑」のレコーディングを通じて追った映像作品です。「音楽図鑑」は長い年月をかけて録音された作品で、最終的にボツになった曲も多いようです。この作品は、そのボツ曲の録音シーンがかなり含まれているのがポイントです。清水靖晃のサックスとマリンバ（たぶんＤＸ-７）の無機的なユニゾンフレーズの上に、Fairlightのざらついたストリングスを手弾きで加える様子などが出てきます。テープ操作はアシスタントがやっているのですが、ミキサーは教授本人が操作する場面が多いことがわかります。またＭＣ-４のクリック音＋Fairlightの仮ドラムに合わせて"Self Portrait"のピアノ録りをする様子（＠音響スタジオ。教授とアッコちゃんお気に入りのスタインウェイです）などもあります。スタジオで試行錯誤する教授を見ることができる映像はこの作品しかなく、マニア的に美味しいＤＶＤといえるでしょう。
こんな感じのドキュメンタリーなので、坂本龍一に興味のない人が見てもおそらく全く面白くないと思います。８０年代前半の教授のファンであれば必携だと思います。

ビデオで持っていたのですが、DVDが欲しくて買いました。一番カッコイイ頃の教授が作業してます!当時の嫁(矢野顕子)と自宅でピアノを弾きます!!お化粧してインタビューを受けます!!!さらにノスタルジックな東京の風景が入り、哀愁ただよう映像です。疲れている時、無性に見たくなります。
