きりっと冷やしたビールのような喉越しの良さに敬服。ジャズを聞かない人にもおすすめの一枚。きっと心地よいアルバムになるはず。

ソニー・クラークのピアノの特徴である「後ろ髪を引かれるような」陰影に富んだタッチのおいしい処がたくさん詰まっている。どうしても、ブルーノートの同名盤と比較してしまうが、私はこちら（タイム盤）の方が絶対好き。

あちら（ブルーノート）はちょっとベー・ドラが目立ち過ぎ。バン・ゲルダー氏の重低音強調主義の採音技術が災いしたのか、はたまた飛ぶ鳥を落とす勢いだったマイルス・バンドの組員フィリー・ジョーとチェンバースが、ちょっと頑張り過ぎたのか。彼らにすれば、全力でクラークを盛り立てようとしたんだろうが・・・

対照的に、こちらでクラークのバックを務める、マックス・ローチとジョージ・デゥビビエの方が一歩さがってうまくクラークの特徴を引き出している。さすがにベテランは年季が違うと感じさせる。クラークも安心して、クラーク節を連発している。あちらでは、ハードバップの名曲をスピード感溢れるアレンジでジェットコースターライドでこなしていたソニーだが、こちらでは全編自分のオリジナル曲を、落ち着いたベー・ドラをバックに、たっぷりじっくりと聞かせてくれる。

あちらでよいのはベー・ドラが引っ込んだミディアムの「ソフトリー」とスローの「エイプリール」だが、こちらでは全部そんな感じだ。Cool Struttin'でクラークのピアノに魅了された方には、こちらを是非に推薦する。

　ソニクラと言えば「クール・ストラッティン」や同名ＢＮ盤「トリオ」も良いけど、どれか一枚と言われれば、このソニクラのオリジナル曲で固めたタイム盤「トリオ」を挙げたいですね。独特の乾いた音色、明るい様な暗い様な陰影のある演奏 … ソニクラの真骨頂が聴ける名盤！　Ｊ・デュビビエ、Ｍ・ローチの好サポートも奏功！
