雷の音と共に始まる、「雨」をテーマにしたスー・レイニーの初期の作品です。

「雨」と言っても陰鬱な印象は一切なし。逆に憂鬱な気分を吹き飛ばしてくれたり、
またこわばっていた気持ちをほぐしてくれたり・・・聴いているうちに自然と優しい
気持ちになってくるような曲ばかりです。
スー・レイニーのボーカルは、綺麗な声で素直にクセ無くさらりと歌う感じで、
歌唱力も抜群だと思います。透き通っていて快活で、なおかつ細やかなデリカシーを
感じる歌に聴き入ってしまいます。個人的にはスー・レイニーはこの作品とデビュー作
When your lover has goneが特に良いと思います。

窓の外には雨に濡れた木々の色濃い緑、青や紫色の紫陽花、そんな光景が浮かんでくる
ようです。雨の日に部屋の中でゆったりと聴いてみてください。昔の映画のような
ロマンティックな雰囲気を味わえますよ。
おすすめです。

映画のワンシーンを切り取ったかの様なロマンティックな
アルバムデザインと色彩。録音されている12曲は
まさにタイトル、パッケージデザインそのものの世界です。

一緒に録音されている、雨音や雷の音が「雨の日のジャズ」
12曲をいっそう引き立てていて、当時の時間に
まるで自分がその場にいるかのようです。
スー・レイニーの甘い低音が、オーケストラと雨音
と絶妙なバランスでため息が出そうです。

十数年前にレコードとして持っていましたが
ＣＤとなった今も手放す事はありません。
この時代のゴージャスさな美しさそのままに。
長いドレスの衣擦れの音の聞こえそうな
美しいアルバムです。

彼女の代表作と言ったらデビュー作のホエン ユア ラヴァー ハズゴーンになるかもしれませんが、
本作もレイニーソングを十分楽しめる１枚に仕上がっています。
当時としては画期的とも言えるSE(サウンドエフェクト)入りで
一曲目から雷と雨音から始まります、そしておよそ１０代とは思えない
柔らかな色気を漂わせ、しっとりと歌い上げています。

１９５９年録音ですが８曲目あたりからなぜかS/Nやレンジ感が良くなり、
結構生々しい彼女のボーカルが堪能できます、
ジャケットの出来も秀逸で５０年代のゴージャスなアメリカの雰囲気が
プンプン漂って上出来、紙ジャケが唯一惜しいところか、
雨の日に聴いて良し、眺めて良しの１枚、
