ヴォーカリスト畠山美由紀とギタリスト小島大介からなる、ポート・オブ・ノーツのセカンド・アルバム。音楽に対する真摯な姿勢とあふれる才能が見事に開花した、素晴らしい作品だ。総体的にジャズのテイストが強い印象を受けるが、実はもっと広いレンジを持っていて、どの曲もクールで美しい。オシャレではあるが軽くはなく、少ない楽器で有機的な音を紡ぎ出している。姿勢としてスティーリー・ダンに通じるものを感じさせる。曲によって日本語と英語の詞を使い分けているところも軽やか。聴けば聴くほどに味わいが深まる。 (楡崎明生) --- 2001年07月号

仕事や学校から帰ってきてホッとしている時、少し落ち込んでいる時、少しうれしい時、何も考えたくない時、思索にふけっている時、眠りにつく前のひと時、このアルバムを聴いてみましょう！
安定した楽曲群に畠山美由紀さんのとびっきりの歌唱が相交わって、たゆたうひと時を過ごすことができます。

これだけ素晴らしい音楽をつくり、そしてこれだけ素晴らしい歌唱をもちながら、Port of Notesはそれほど認知度がありませんよね。なぜだろう、と思ったのですが、もしかしたら｢謙虚｣だからかもしれません。

しかし、それはあくまでも個性のひとつであり、その｢謙虚｣さは、やさしさとなって歌の周りを包み込んでいます。

このアルバムは、日本音楽史に残したい傑作です。

いまの時代、商品として消耗してしまうものが多すぎて、
音楽という言葉の意味を考え直してしまうけれど、
このアルバムは、「音を楽しむ」という本来の意味を思い出させてくれて、また、
自分の知らない「自分が探していた音楽」が、まだまだどこかに眠っていることをおしえてくれる、そんな１枚です。

そして、それはわたしたちのこころに一生残る１枚であることは、間違いありません。
むしろ、「なんでもっと早く出会わなかったんだろう」と後悔するような・・・。

まず、褒め称えるべきは、ボーカル畠山美由紀の歌唱力だろう。今現在、日本の音楽シーンにおいて、歌唱力抜群な和製ディーバと言われる歌姫は無数にいるが、畠山のそれは飛び抜けている。一聞の価値、大いにある。そして、それに似合った楽曲の良さ！全体的には落ち着いた曲調だが、ロック調の6曲目Into　the　lightやDoubleFamousがfeaturingしている7曲目SplitMoonがｱﾙﾊﾞﾑにスパイスを与えている。また、13曲目のサンポニイコウの歌詞は猫好きにはたまらなく共感できるものである。私個人としてはこのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑを聞くにつけ、雄大な自然、大地などを連想してしまう。本当に「心地の良い」音楽の詰った、アルバムである。
