このアルバムはラルクがバンドとしての生音を追求してた頃のアルバムですね。

前年arkとrayのアルバムでバンドとして頂点に立ちますが、それからラルクは世間のビジュアル系イメージからの脱却を図っていたように思います。

ビジュアル系特有のダークなメロディアスさと高い演奏力を生かしたロックサウンドがラルクの持ち味でもありましたが、このアルバムではラルク特有のメロディアスな曲は殆んどなく、あるのは骨太なロックナンバーばかり。
つまりビジュアル系バンドではなく、正統なロックバンドとしての可能性を追求したアルバムですね。

この頃のtetsuの発言や作った楽曲(bravery、STAYAWAY)を見ると自ずとそう感じずにはいられません。
そういう意味では中々の問題作ですよね。

アルバムというかL'Arc〜en〜Cielというバンドはもっと評価されていいのでは?L'Arc〜en〜Cielの音楽性の広さは凄い。洋楽でもここまで幅広い色を出せるバンドって俺は知らない。hydeさんの歌唱法って今のビジュアル系の糞みたいなバンドの人たちと同じなのに全然違うんですよね。ナルシズムを感じないし綺麗なんですよね。
しかもどんどん上手くなってるし。VAMPSよりL'Arc〜en〜Cielで本格的に世界進出しちゃえばいいのになあ、ギターを変えれば世界に通用するバンドだと思いますがギターの人の作曲センスは素晴らしいから...なんとも歯がゆい話ですね。

Wikipediaでハードロックに比重をおいた、とかあるけど、ハードロックな雰囲気は2、8曲目くらいのような気がします。むしろ、5〜6曲目のシングル曲以外は軽快な雰囲気が目立つ。

個人的には4曲目「bravery」がすごく印象に残りました。一部のファンを批判した曲らしいですが、メロディーはとてもいいです。歌詞も確かに批判してはいますが、自分が実際にこういう気分になった時に聞くと感激するんじゃないですかねー。一度聞くのをオススメします。

まずジャケットが最高です。
ラルクっぽさを感じられる最後の作品だと思います。
このアルバム以降ラルクはセルアウトになった。
