この作品は僕が子供の頃の作品で、心の片隅にずーっと残っていたのだが、作品名は思い出せずに大人になるまで忘れていた。1年くらい前にふと思い出し「カエル」「ラザニア」で検索してみたら宇宙船サジタリウスというタイトルが出てきた。そうそうこれだ。ＤＶＤＢＯＸが3箱でかなり高額だったが、確実に良い作品だったという思いがあったので大人買いをした。

商品が届いてまずカラフルでポップなＢＯＸが少年の頃のワクワクを思い起こさせた。そして本編。エリートでは無い普通の20代、30代、40代の主人公たちが、恋愛、結婚生活、お金のやりくり、子育て、本音と建前、理想と現実などに悩みながらも、冒険を続けていた。子供の頃に観てた頃より自分が主人公と同世代になっているだけに深みがある。これを楽しみに観ていた子供の頃の自分に「お前なかなか良い趣味してるなあ」と褒めてやりたい。

主人公は中小企業の運転手と学者。 ド派手な戦闘も魅力的なロボットも登場しない宇宙物語ながら放送が延長される程の人気を誇っていた。 笑いあり涙あり反省あり教訓ありと現代アニメのお手本のような作品。 音楽、声優、世界観どれもが最高に魅力的。 勿論、教育テレビでも流せます。 ただ、残念な事に最も子供に見せたいアニメである本作のDVDは1年間限定生産販売の為もう新品では手に入りません。 そこに目を付け不当なプレミアまで付いてます。 メーカーは改めてこの作品を子供達でも買えるような廉価で販売し直してほしいと思います。

TV放映が10年以上経っていますが、異星人の外見に対して妙に現実感のある描写が随所にあり、作品世界に引き込まれていきます。
堀江美都子さん他の方々による多くの劇中歌も、なかなか凝っていて、大人も楽しめるつくりになっています。

放映当時、イタリア料理の「ラザニア」をこの番組を見て食べたくなって作ってしまいました。きっと、あなたも食べたくなります。(美○しんぼのような内容ではありません。)
