７５年発表の７作目。前作でベースのジョン・Ｇ・ペリーが脱退して本作からは元カーブド・エアのマイク・ウェッジウッドが参加した。この作品は彼らの代表曲「ロッキン・コンチェルト」を含む作品であり、ドラマーであるリチャード以外の全員で曲を持ち寄った充実した内容を誇る。全曲が力作揃いだが、その大作の名曲６．と１．を提供したデイヴはソングライターとしてもかなり充実していたと言える。バラードが中心になっているアルバムというのもキャラバンとしては珍しい。

１．はキャラバンにしては珍しいピアノのストロークを活かした普通のバラード。しかしこれが素晴しい。メロディ展開の美しさ、そして爽やかなバック・コーラス、ギター・ソロ、エンディングのチューブ・ベルと最初から最後まで聞き所満載の名曲。２．はサビのメロディが強力なキャラバンらしいパワー・ポップ調の曲。前々作を踏襲した感じだ。３．も１．同様にピアノのバッキングで歌われるバラード。美しいストリングスが付く。曲調はかなり異なるのだが、なぜかピーター・フランプトンを思い出させるヴォーカルである。４．はフォーク的な雰囲気を持ったバラード。寂し気なメロディとサビのハモリのコーラスが印象的だ。この曲でのビオラはハマリ過ぎ。５．はファンクっぽい曲。作者である新加入のマイクの素晴しいベース・プレイが楽しめる。６．は冒頭からのキャラバンでも屈指の美しいメロディで勝負が決まる大作。７．はいかにもアンコール的なアコギの曲。なかなか構成が素晴しい作品だ。

　私にとってもし無人島に持っていけるのが１枚だけというＣＤをという指定があった場合それは何ですかという問いがあれば、ずっとこれがその１枚でした。
　旧ＬＰのＢ面ほぼ一杯の組曲やトップの曲は、歌詞はわかんないけど曲調が、人生の喜びと悲しみをきれいにかっこよく表現しているように思えます。
　世間的にはプログレロックとしてはポップじゃないかという評価になってるんじゃないかと思います。でも今までのアルバムの曲より分厚いオーケストレーションというかハーモニーとエフェクトを凝らした総合芸術的な音が聞けます。
　このバンド、代表作は３枚目グレイとピンクの地、５枚目夜毎に太る女のために、等といわれていますが、自分の中ではこの７（６？）枚目が上回ってます。
　プログレファンとして、このバンドの大ファンとして、このアルバムを１押しします。

このアルバムは前半はポップな曲がならび、時間的にも短く
楽しめます。後半の組曲が非常によいです。最初の始まりの
なんとも言えないキーボードの音はやはりカンタベリーの伝統を受け継ぐ
メロデイラインで、途中のフルートやヴァイオリン、ギターが次々と

ソロをとるところのジャズテイストの進行の部分でも、やはりカンタベリーの雰囲気があって、最後の激しい音の込み入ったところで、盛り上がり最後に明るい大合唱という感じで消えていきます。　カンタベリーサウンドの伝統を持ちながら、シンフォニックな構成で、しかも各楽器の音が重ならないで、それぞれが美しい調和をもたらし、それぞれの楽器が今どういう音を出して聞かせてくれるかをおいかけていくだけでも、実によく作られていると思います。リチャードシンクレアのいないぶん、ジャズ色がなくなってポップになったけど、パイのメロデイの美しさがとても気持ちいいですね。これはプログレッシブロックの名盤だと思います。
是非おすすめします。
