5.0 out of 5 stars スティックスの黄金時代の名曲集, 2002/3/21
70年代後半から80年代前半にかけて、スティクスの黄金時代の名曲を集めたベスト集。彼らのアルバムの魅力は、3人のメロディメーカーがそれぞれの個性を発揮しながら、全体としてはバランスのとれた仕上がりになっているところ。
ただ残念ながらすべてのアルバムでバランスが保たれているわけではありません。たとえばミスター･ロボットが収録されているKilroy Was Hereなどではそのバランスは崩れており、発表後は人気もガタ落ち。メンバー間の対立もあって一時的には解散状態になっていました。

このベスト版の魅力は、そういったアルバムの出来、不出来に関係なく、スティクスの黄金時代の名曲を楽しめることです。デニス・デ・ヤングのポップで美しいバラード、トミー・ショウのちょっぴりシニカルなボーカル、ジェームス・ヤングのノリノリのハードロック・・・ちょっぴり贅沢な三色セットをお楽しみ下さい。

再結成のきっかけになった「レイディ’９５」を含むベスト盤です。元々はオリジナルを収録しようとしたみたいですけど、権利関係で無理と言う事で、なら録り直そうと言う事になって、ＪＹが声を掛け実現したみたいです。ライナーにはジョン・パノッゾ生前最後の録音と書いてありますけど、実際にドラムを叩いているのは、後に正式メンバーになるトッド・ズッカーマンだそうです。選曲はシングル中心で、スティクスの代表曲がぎっしり詰まっています。
