　言わずと知れた大名盤。近年は全テイクを納めたボックスセットも出たけど、まずは本作で入門するのが良い。冒頭から深~いブルース演奏でゾクゾクする。ドルフィーを含めた演奏者全員が体調・精神力ともに充実していたのが分かる。

　圧巻はマッコイを外してトリオで演奏される「チェイシン・ザ・トレーン」。３人の情念とパワーが強すぎて、こっちの体調や心理状態次第では、対峙出来ず曲途中で挫折する事も。気合いを入れて聴くと、他では得難い感動が味わえる。素晴らしいジャズ。
