傑作アクション「カプリコン・１」に続いてピーター・ハイアムズ監督、ジェリー・ゴールドスミス音楽で仕上げられた、両コンビのさらなる傑作。低音部を強調した重厚な響きで、木星の衛星イオ鉱山で発覚した麻薬陰謀を太く深く彩っていく。鈍い電子音が混じる主題曲の魅力もさることながら、白眉は麻薬売人をショーン・コネリー扮する保安官が基地内を延々と追跡する場面の音楽。金管と打楽器が律動感豊かに掛け合い、圧倒的なアクションの醍醐味を告げていく。そのエネルギッシュかつダイナミックな采配。アクション音楽を書かせては右に出る者がいない巨匠の手腕が存分に味わえる。
